M&S Annual Charity Corporate Challenge - Thank you Forestside.

July 23, 2014

As part of their Corporate commitment, M&S invites staff across all parts of the business to get involved in an Annual Charity Challenge during the summer months.  This year, staff from the 19 stores in the Northern Ireland & Isle of Man region set themselves a target of raising £100k for local charity, Action Cancer.

There have been a variety of events happening across the country, but on Sunday 20 July over 80 staff, family & friends took part in a Sponsored Walk and Cycle from Forestside.  Walkers completed a 10k/6m route from the shopping centre along the Lagan Tow Path, while the cyclists pedalled a 20 mile route to the M&S store at Sprucefield and back, some even completing the route twice!   The event kicked off at 10am with everyone back at Forestside by early afternoon to re-fuel and help raise more funds with a scrumptious Cake sale!

Many thanks to Lee at Forestside for allowing the M&S team to use the shopping centre as a base for the event.  Donations & Sponsorship from Sunday’s Walk & Cycle has added over £3,500 to the regional fundraising efforts, with the total raised for Action Cancer currently sitting at £63,000.  There are a couple of weeks left before the end of the Corporate Challenge so if you’d like to make a donation, you can do so in any M&S store!
