Triona

Artist Bio


Triona is a singer/songwriter who comes from a small rural area called Teconnaught in County Down, Northern Ireland. To date, Triona when she was 16 was chosen by Joan Armatrading to support Joan at her show in Vicar Street, Dublin in 2012. In 2013 Triona was presented with the Cel Fay bursary award for young musician of the year. In March 2014 she was one of the four singer/songwriters chosen by Panarts to fly to Nashville to showcase her music. Triona played the famous Blue bird cafe and shows such as Music City Roots. Triona made her first TV appearance in February 2014 on UTV on a show called “The Magazine” to showcase her own music. In September 2014 Triona was selected by the government funded organisation Generator NI, to be a part of their talent development programme. Generator NI chose Triona to fly out to Nashville for a week’s writing with some of Nashville’s finest writers In September 2014. In July 2015 Triona released her first single “Flames” which was playlisted on two of Northern Ireland's major radio stations, Cool FM and Downtown. Triona is currently the voice of the new Power NI campaign streaming across TV and radio in Northern Ireland with a cover of Ash’s song “Shining light.” Triona released “Shining light” as a single in late September 2015 and is the first local artist to make it in to Cool Fm’s Shazam charts at number 1. Triona was invited back out to Nashville in September 2015 to write and showcase her music in the Americana Festival.

Triona was very honoured to be invited by the amazing Van Morrison to open for him at the 3Arena Dublin in November 2015. Triona also opened for West life’s Brian McFadden on his Uk and Irish tour in 2015 and played the famous Ruby Sessions in Dublin alongside Gabrielle Aplin, Gavin James, Kodaline, Hudson Taylor, The Coronas and Little hours. Triona has toured with the famous Irish artist Nathan Carter on his UK tour including an opening performance for Nathan at the famous London Palladium.

Triona is currently working on projects with some of Nashville’s top songwriters, Jodi Marr who has worked with Mika and Paloma Faith, James Elliot, Grammy award winner Andrew Ramsey, Brett James who has written hit songs for Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Bon Jovi, Jason Aldean and the Backstreet Boys, James House who has written hits for top artists such as Rod Stewart, Tina Turner and Martina McBride and Johnny Reid, a Scottish singer/songwriter who is very famous throughout Canada and Nashville.

Back home in Northern Ireland Triona has played St Patricks day at Custom House Square in Belfast, festivals such as The Belfast Nashville singer/songwriters Festival, Belfast Music Week, Flower Fields festival as part of the Ralph MacLean show streamed live on BBC radio Ulster, Generator NI “Output” showcase and many more festivals. Triona also supported the famous Willis Clan from Americas Got Talent and Tom Baxter on their Irish tours.
